Age: 18 mos. - 2 yrs. | purebred Rhodesian Ridgeback

Abby is a high energy, delightful girl who has few social graces. She walks well on a leash, she sits when told, she is crate trained. She is fabulous when being examined by a vet. She truly lives to be petted and touched by "her" person (currently that is me). However, she is still nervous around other dogs to a large extent. After living with her and helping her recover from her surgery I am quite sure that she was hurt by animals originally, perhaps coyotes, as she is very reactive to that colour type in dogs. Abby is very responsive to food rewards and perhaps due to her background of being half starved she will do anything for food. She inhales her meals :( but does try and take treats gently. She will need obedience classes as well as an understanding person to help her over any socialization issues. She will make someone a fabulous companion!! Abby has had Dermoid Sinus surgery and will need to undergo a second surgery in about one year. Rescue will either take her to a vet to have the surgery done or help find a proficient vet in her area and help cover the costs of the surgery - please feel free to discuss this issue with Elizabeth. The veterinarian feels that at this time surgery is not an option so soon after the first surgery.
