| Canine Papillomas
Canine Papillomas are the result of a virus.
The warts look a bit like a cauliflower and are usually round.
The are found on the lips and/or muzzle of a dog usually under
two years if age. The incubation is between one and two months
and they are transmitted through contact with an infected
dog. It is contagious to other dogs, but not to humans or
other animals. The warts disappear as the dog's immune system
strengthens. They are not known to be malignant -antibiotics
may be need to stop a secondary infection caused by bacteria
in the dog's mouth. There is not a true treatment for this
ailment as they do disappear across time, but do consult your
vet. Do NOT try to remove the warts at home.
